Re-dic-u-lous
So I was correct in my reading.  They will not be teaching Phy 121.  We are teaching ourselves from a CD, that we have to spend $59.99 on.  Please explain to me then, why I'm paying Stony Brook for my education?  On top of the fee to buy the CD there's a s/h fee.  As grundig said, "Insult, meet injury."

Last Semester Day 1
So assuming that I pass Organic chemistry, this will be my last semester. :)
Today I went ot my theater courses, and was reminded that I was a bit silly thinking that by being theatre, they would be easy.  I have a  preforming class that we will constantly be performing, go figure.  But it will also involve doing a monologue and group projects that will involve working with others and I have to see two Stony Brook performances.  When I'll do that, a little unsure.  Next I'm in Stagecraft II which is designing and making sets.  Here I need a total of 32 hours of additional lab time for this class where we will be making the sets, I have to usher one performance and see another, and we have drafting things we have to do.
Remind me why I thought these classes would be easy.  Once again, silly me.
Tomorrow I go to Organic Chem and Physics, and I am honestly worried more about Physics right now.  They are no longer doing a lecture it seems.  They are trying a "new format."  Instead we have "workshops" where we have to bring those wonderful clicker things stony brook made us get.  So then where do we learn things?  As said by the course description, The workshop (meets during the so-called lecture time) will be an interactive REVIEW of the material that you have studied from the CD.
So as far as I can tell, we are just teaching ourselves, and not really learning during the lecture...I mean workshop.  I could understand this for most courses, just not introductory courses.  When will Stony Brook start making sense?

I'm finally enrolled in Organic Chem.  Sweet!  No more worrying about one stupid class keeping me from my diploma :)

Must share with everyone
This was something I got to see at work.  It's GREAT!!  I understand some people won't completely get all the jokes to it, but it is still funny to see and to make fun of the guys.  You need to have speakers or something when you watch it.

And in case your wondering, this is real.  It was done by the company Eppendorf that makes laboratory supplies.

Sunday + Snow
= no game.  Some areas are still a bit scary, for lack of a better term.  And now there is no excuse for people to not go outside and play in the snow.  Enjoy it before life comes back and reminds us of work.  *waves*

Stony Brook Rant
Once again I am reminded of how I hate this campus.
Before I can graduate, I need 1 credit of BIO.  Since it was only one credit, I have been trying for the past 3 semesters to get an independent study with someone.  Now really, should it be that hard??  Apparently yes.
My program director told me I would have to go find a teacher on West Campus to sponsor me, work out a project with them, and then could get my credit.  So for a year, I sent e-mails, meet a few professors, and asked various friends if they knew someone who would work with me.  I got a lot of, sorry your field/knowledge is not in our field, or just no answers.  So this possibly being my last year, and with a friend that's a TA, I was finally able to get some information and a starting point.  But that did only start Wednesday.
Thursday, my director pulls me aside in class, reminding me that I have a credit to finish up.  I told her I am working on it and should have an answer soon.  She couldn't understand why I was having such a hard time since another student already worked a project through with one of my teachers.  That paused me, for I was originally told I couldn't use one of my teachers.  She also tells me that tomorrow is the deadline to sign up without a fee.  This  is also disheartening for, to my knowledge, I has another week.  So I grumble through the day a bit since it was maddening, to say the least.  I get a lot of help from out good TA friend, start to fill out the paper work, pick a random topic to write about, and go to the BIO department to hand in the paper work.  Course it's after 4 so I walked there for no reason.  I look at my schedule and see the only time Friday I really have to turn it in will be 12-1 when i have a break.
So Friday, I go see my one professor to co-sponsor the project, as I was told to do and he is confused.  he is the one that gave my classmate a project and has never seen it done this way be for.  Makes me a bit nervous, but he fills it out and I go to my next class.  I nervously sit through it till 12 then bolt out the door to run across campus.  I go see the professor who's been helping me, but to his knowledge, he shouldn't be sponsoring, although he will if need be.  SO i go see Ellen Lopez, who signs you up for the classes.  She is confused by the paperwork tells me I have been doing it wrong, gives me new papers to have filled out, and says return by 2, or it will be to late.  So I rush back to the hospital, get the teacher from earlier to re fill them out and have him think of a project.  He's leaving soon to, so feels to rushed.....can't think of anything....He need to re-write it a few times......Finally picks the topic "Describe the characteristics of the human pappiloma virus, how it causes cervical cancer, and how effective is the vaccine, and how it works."  I rush back across, give her the papers, and have just enough time to run back to the hospital to make it to class.  Oh i did have the minute to heat up my oatmeal for lunch though.  Class then last 10 minutes, despite us being told it would be important that day, which is why I had to be back at 1, and I slowly walk back to the 4M.
Now today, I had to pay my tuition.  I looked at it earlier this week and it was 5 bucks.  Suddenly it's 45.  I review the activity and see a 40 dollar late registration fee.  i though, stupid woman didn't turn in the form until after the time.  I search through Stony Brook's stupid website and see that it was actually the last day period to sign up for classes.
Once, I would like this damn school to just give me the correct information when I ask for it.  Just once.

THings you start to notice..
So watching Independence Day for a bit. I know not the greatest movie, but I like it. They get to Area 51 and there's Jayne from Firefly. I forgot he was in the movie, silly me I know. I watch a bit more to when Will Smith comes in with the alien. The guard that lets them in is Kowalski from SG-1. How many people went on from that movie to more Sci Fi stuff I'm starting to wonder.

Well It's Over
Today was my last day at working in the Micro Lab at South Hampton Hospital. I will say, I'll miss it a bit. It was a nice place to work, and I have to admit I was spoiled a bit. I started working there and got to choose my own hours and what days I was going to work. My co-workers didn't get to do that until about 3 years seniority. Also, all of my workers were pretty nice. Only one of them thought I was there to do the work she didn't want to. But I never expected it to be perfect. And I will enjoy the free time I have for a week before classes. And getting to eat a meal between 1-8. Perhaps I'll see them come my next interning. *shrugs*
